Bastille Day, 2018

The Eiffel Tower on July 14th in Paris, France (Bastille Day). My attempt last year from the Trocadero was an epic fail. Despite I came in the early afternoon, impossible to reach the Trocadero gardens. Security checks were insane, water bottle caps were seized by the cops (despite 30 degrees C...), all people stuck on the Place du Trocadero, totally crowded, with some drunk people vomiting around... Not even able to take a single shot. So this year I decided to change the plan and stay far from the Eiffel Tower, and use a telephoto at 560mm from a park in Montreuil city. Vancouver by night

4.00 AM. Robson Street, Vancouver, BC. My first night in Canada after a 10 hours flight from Paris on Monday. A short night, as I woke up at 3.00 am due to jet lag. So I decided to unpack my stuff and spent the rest of the night taking pictures of the city from the hotel balcony, and processed it. Princes of Edinburgh

End of day over Edinburgh, Scotland, from Calton Hill. Calton Hill is probably the most famous photo spot in Edinburgh, with an amazing view on Princes Street and its monuments. I arrived just for sunset on the hill, many photographers were already ready, just over Dugald Stewart Monument. I decided to check around if any spot was less crowded. I finally decided to stop at the bottom of Nelson Monument, with this perspective of Princes Street. I then waited one hour to get the lights over the monuments and enough traffic in the street.

Tower to tower

One (famous) tower from another (a bit less famous) tower in Paris. The Eiffel tower and the Seine from Saint Jacques tower, which has been closed to public during almost 10 years for an important restoration. Under the lights

A saturday summer full moon night at Vaux-Le-Vicomte, a Baroque castle near Paris, built in mid-17th-century for Nicolas Fouquet, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV. Each saturday during summer period, all the castle and its amazing gardens are enlightened by hundreds of candles, producing an incredible ambiance. When I start shooting, I realized that I forgot my memory card at home. I just took the camera and 1 more lens, without taking the whole photobag with gears and backup memory cards. I tried to find one at the castle shop, with no success... I was really disappointed and ready to give up when I finally realized that the GPS system in my car is using a SD Card. A quick format, and I finally start shooting. Lucky man ! Sunset over London Bridge

The afternoon was quite cloudy on London yesterday, a few hours before the sunset, a lot of dark clouds appeared, and the light was really not good. I gave it a try and moved to the River Thames edges near the city hall in the end of the afternoon after a burger at Shake shack. The London Bridge City Summer Festival helped a lot to wait until the sunset with DJs, music and drinks ! During 20 minutes, when the sun was setting, the light was just amazing while the sun appeared between the clouds and the horizons. Morning at the Taj

When I arrived the day before at Agra, I immediately went near Mehtab Bagh, a garden with a nice view behind the Taj on the other side of the Yamuna river. I was so disappointed to discover scaffolding on the North East minaret. The winter “fog” was also really present, and at 10am, due to sunlights, the Taj was only a grey shadow from the other side of the river, only 100m from there. Ouch, no good news. I tried to convince me that tomorrow would be better, but disappointment was huge. I woke up at 5.30am the next day, to be one of the first to enter the site at sunrise, ticket already bought online before leaving. A couple of minutes past 6, the queue was already 20 meters long, ouch. Finally, the East door opened around 7.00, 15 minutes of adrenaline, discovering the impressive monument and trying to find out framing with no people. Only a few seconds on each spot, then "strategic" move to another one. Even if I deeply checked before coming every potential spot, once inside, this is definitely different. The site was crowded, but most of people went directly inside the mausoleum after the garden and the usual shots with water reflection. Then the mosque area (West) was quite clear, and i had 5 minutes in a foggy atmosphere to take pictures while the sun rising — Canon EOS 5D Mark III + EF16-35mm f/4L IS USM @16mm, f/9, 1/60, iso 400

Spaghetti Junction

Shot on the very last evening before leaving Auckland and NZ, this place called "Spaghetti Junction" (no need further explanation I guess) is a junction of several Highways near the city center. I arrived the day before from the South Island around 11pm, and I immediately walked several kilometres the to find this incredible spot to be completely ready for my only chance. I began to shoot at the sunrise and finish 1 hour and a half later at dusk. Due to public holiday for Easter in NZ, there wasn't so much traffic, and I had to wait to get enough cars. Lights of Seattle

On my way From Glacier National Park to Alaska, a stopover at Seattle was mandatory, so I decided to stay 1 day, to discover quickly the city. When night came, I went to the most famous photospot in Seattle, Kerry Park. Atlantic Road

The famous national road 64 section, in Norway, also known as "The Atlantic Road", before sunset. An 8km road which runs through small islands, spanned by eight bridges and several landfills along the Atlantic.
